The primary maths curriculum is undergoing a review - it's first since 1999. The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) has published the draft of the proposed new curriculum for junior infants to second class. No date has been set for the implementaiton of the new curriculum in schools but it is unlikely to be before September 2019 at the very earliest.
In the meantime, the draft is open for public consultation until February 2018, and includes a number of strands.
As part of a school network, teachers and principals are trying out aspects of the curriculum and sharing their feedback.
An online questionnaire which can be accessed here.
Consultative seminars will take place in early 2018. Check back here in a few weeks for information on these.
The consultation findings will be used to finalise the new Primary Mathematics Curriculum. Research reports that inform and support this curriculum development can be read here.
