Gardai are investigating a fire at teaching prefab which was destroyed yesterday evening at a Galway primary school.
Both the Gardia and the local fire services arrived at the scene in
Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh in Knocknacarra, close to Galway City, shortly after 6pm.
The fire is believed to have started when the playground surface, which is made of a soft, rubbery material to safeguard children from falls, was set alight and then spread to the nearby prefab.
Although the building was destroyed, no injuries were reported at the scene.
