As part of the Keep Well campaign Sports Ireland are committed to helping people keep active during Covid-19. Over the past number of weeks Sports Ireland have been working on developing a suite of online exercise content to support the people most in need in our society with their physical activity. Sports Ireland are delighted to share with you three online exercise content series that have been created specifically for children with autism.

Online Exercise Content

Keep Well Programme for children with autism and their parents/guardians/carers.

Led by Fiona and Paul Oppermann this 6-part series is designed to focus in on movement patterns that are beneficial for development, combined with low and higher intensity exercises that use a similar pattern to aid learning. The key focus is the development of gross motor skills to improve co-ordinated movement, core strength and balance.

The sessions can be done as week by week progressions or standalone sessions. You can do the exercises in your own space and at your own pace, by pausing and restarting the videos at a pace that works for you.

Keep Well Programme for family fitness: Family Fitness Series | Sport Ireland

Led by expert trainer and fellow mum, Fiona Oppermann, this 6-part series will focus on building the entire family’s fitness in a fun and family friendly way. This content is being promoted on social media with a particular focus on Instagram. The key aim is to show families how we can mind our physical and mental health and wellbeing by adding healthy and helpful habits to our daily and weekly routines.
