Site to accommodate 16 classroom primary school and 1000 pupil post primary school
Minister Bruton today confirmed that contracts have been signed for the acquisition of the former Harold’s Cross stadium.
The transaction is due to close shortly at which stage the property will transfer into the Minister’s ownership.
It is intended that the acquisition of the site will facilitate the establishment of the recently announced new 16 classroom primary and 1000 pupil post-primary schools to serve Dublin 6_Clonskeagh and Dublin _6W (Regional Solution).
Welcoming the progress, Minister Bruton said, “We are now creating more school places than at any other period in the history of the State. In 2010, some 9,000 school places were created. In 2017, we built approximately 18,800 new and replacement places. I’m very happy that my Department has secured the Harold’s Cross site which will house two new schools for the South Dublin area, providing schooling for in excess of 1,400 pupils."
