The Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh TD has invited applications for grants under the established Non-Mainstream Music Education Bursary Scheme 2019.
The purpose of the scheme is to provide support by way of a cash grant to established, smaller-scale, non-mainstream music education/community music initiatives with limited or no access to other forms of public funding. Grants can be used to purchase instruments, other equipment and tuition. Grants are not intended for use on capital expenditure such as structural or building costs. The total budget available in 2019 is €100,000.
Minister McHugh said: “We’ve seen a big focus on the Creativity and the Arts across the whole of Government over the last number of years. It is so important to nurture and encourage creativity in our young people, both for their own personal development but also to prepare them to flourish later in life in a modern economy. Work across the Creative Ireland programme has been key to this.
“Today’s announcement is another initiative we are supporting to ensure that we are nurturing and encouraging creative and talented young musicians. I hope that this initiative will continue to help to further shape the landscape of music education in Ireland and provide support and encouragement for future talent.”
Interested parties can find the application form on the Department’s website at the following
