A Donegal and Letterkenny born primary school teacher has become an internet sensation with his own video history lessons which are being viewed by students at home and around the world, according to reports in the
Irish Independent.The self described actor, illustrator, writer, teacher and historian, John D Ruddy has millions of views clocked up on his historical videos which have been uploaded to his youtube.com channel. The short videos (under ten minutes) are accounts of key historical figures and events that students are finding useful as study aids and that they can watch online for free.
Each video focuses on a major historical conflict or person with Duddy narrating with his simple, fun, and informative dialogue using his own illustrations as visuals. The videos such as The French Revolution in 8 minutes, The American War of Independence in 9 minutes are extremely popular, with World War 1 in 6 minutes going viral with over one million views.
He also has study aids for Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate English, including renditions of Shakespeare's most famous plays. According to Irish Independent report, teachers all over the world are using his videos in the classroom.

This is truly great channel actually. I enjoy watching history channels but quite often get bored if video is too long. I really like short and simple things
