Pilot Voluntary Redeployment Scheme for Post Primary

Posted by SchoolDays Newshound, on 08/02/2024. Pilot Voluntary Redeployment Scheme for Post PrimaryTags: Teachers

The Pilot Voluntary Redeployment Scheme 2024 is available to permanent/CID teachers who are employed in a post primary school:

  • In counties Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan and who wish to be considered for redeployment to a school in any location.
  • Outside of Dublin and who wish to be considered for redeployment to a school in Dublin.

The scheme does not apply to schools with teachers in excess of the approved allocation where a teacher(s) has been nominated as surplus. There is provision for voluntary redeployment, subject to certain conditions, in Appendix 2 of Circular 25/2011 - Redeployment scheme for teachers surplus to requirements other than in situations of school closure.

Interested teachers should complete Form Pilot RD1 24-25 and have it certified by the school management.

The school management should declare on Part 2 of Form Pilot RD1 24-25 the preferred subject options that the school requires as a replacement for the teacher if the application for redeployment is successful. These subject options may be different to the subjects currently taught by the teacher applying for voluntary redeployment. This may give Principals an opportunity to address a curriculum mismatch within their school.

The school management must declare on Part 2 of Form Pilot RD1 24-25 the school’s approval to release the teacher in question and their agreement to accept a replacement teacher on redeployment.

Applications under this scheme will be considered by the Directors of Redeployment if they facilitate the compulsory redeployment of a surplus teacher.

Where an offer of redeployment is made through this scheme, the teacher will have 48 hours to accept or decline the offer. There will be no further offers made to the teacher under this scheme in the current year.

Completed forms should be returned to Post Primary Allocations Section, Department of Education, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, N37 X659 by 13 March 2024.

Redeployment of teachers under this scheme shall operate in accordance with the standard provisions of Appendix 2 of Circular 25/2011 - Redeployment Scheme for teachers surplus to requirements other than in situations of school closure

Information about the redeployment schemes, including Frequently Asked Questions documents, is available on the Department’s website  Allocation of teachers to schools
