Given the choice of any city in the world, there are few better places to live with one's family than Dublin, it has emerged.

In Mercer's annual Worldwide Quality of Living Survey, the Irish capital was ranked 25th - placing it higher than Singapore, Brisbane and Paris.

The list also rates Dublin as having a better quality of life that Milan, Barcelona, Madrid and New York City. It was ranked 13 places higher than the UK's capital, London.

Cities in the survey are compared against New York City, which has a benchmark rating of 100. Dublin scored 103.6, marginally up from last year's rating of 103.5.

The report comes after it emerged that one in ten children at Irish schoolchildren were born overseas.

Furthermore, there are 12 primary schools in the country where more than 50 per cent of children are non-Irish.
