Yes you should be paid, It is in my contract that if for whatever reason parents choose not to send the child, I am paid.

Hi there,
If you are available for work and the parents cancel, you should be paid.
If you cancel or take holidays well then you normally wouldn´t be paid, as the parents need to pay someone else to mind the children. It would be a good idea to have a chat and work this out. If children were in a crèche parents would have to pay 52 weeks a year, regardless of whether children are there or not, so that´s a good guideline.

Hi there,
Could anyone advise if I should be paid for time off, one parent took week off recently this month and has another one coming up in August,. I was not paid for this time, just told that parent would be of and I was not needed. I took holidays myself at my own expense, but just wondering about this time off as it seems to be a regular thing. Please advise as I will have to speak to parents. Thanks.

so things like this are sorted from the start of the care.

Yes, get this sorted immediately, i dont get paid for hols/bank hols but you need to get paid for the time when you should have the child/ren.
