Just keep in mind not everyone gets paid extra for bank holidays, My husband is not paid anything extra for working over bank holidays he gets 4 hours off in lieu for working.

Hi could anyone help me, I mind a child on a flexi basis Mon to Friday. Every bank holiday I am asked if I am available to take child, which I do. Just wondering if I should be charging more than my standard rate for a bank holiday as I know both parents are working and getting paid double for it.

Getting four hours off at a later stage is at least something, its certainly at least minimum wage per hr by 4.....a childminder can be working for a low as €2/3 an hour depending on agreement in place and to have to work bank holidays for nothing extra can irritate if one starts to think about it at all.....

Iv often worked bank hol if suited me for the regular day rate. However if you have contract in place saying you get bank hol pay...if u take kids id look for double pay or say you plans made, sorry.
