Paying for days kids aren’t with childminder           reply

Hi, can I get your advice. I am a childminder. I have always been clear at the start that I get paid for the days we have arranged and I am available and don’t for days I am not. I have been very reasonable and not really enforced it so much since they have started as one of the kids goes to her fathers and may not come back on the day they have arranged so knowing this I have been trying to cut them some slack. Last week the kids had to be kept out of school as another child in the class got covid so they closed for the week. I messaged them about the pay and how I would like to stick to our original arrangement as I could not have a week of no pay for them. The parent don’t seem to remember me ever saying it and could not believe that I would want to be paid for anything I hadn’t worked for and that they had never had to do this before of even heard of it. Am I being unreasonable? Is it the done thing? None of the other parents I’ve dealt with had an issue.
