MORE than 50 parents camped out for up to two days at the weekend to get a
place in a desirable secondary school for their daughters.
The
parents had been stationed in the car park of Presentation Secondary
School in Tralee, Co Kerry, since Thursday to keep their place in the
queue for enrollment, which began on Saturday morning at 10am.
School´s principal Sheila Pontillo insists that queuing
is unnecessary, but made the school hall available to parents
overnight. The school offers 130 places each year and about 50 of these are reserved for girls at its feeder school, Presentation Primary.
