Communion Dress Fundraiser

Has anyone ever run a second hand communion dress sale as a fundraiser in their school. Someone has suggested it for our school but not sure whether to proceed. I think the idea would be that parents of past first communicants would be invited to donate their child´s first communion dress. We would then organise a sale night to this year´s parents and all monies made would go into the fundraising kitty. Presume if we do go ahead with it the best time to organise such an event would be in January or would that be too late? Any thoughts anyone?
