-----------------------------------
Colaiste Ioasef was established in 1998 and represents a coming together of the two traditions in post-primary education - the secondary and the vocational. The current school was created as Colaiste Ioasef Community College from an amalgamation of St. Josephs Secondary School and St. Peters College. The college sits on the outskirts of Kilmallock, a town where the history of education dates back to a collegiate monastery built in the town almost five hundred years ago.
The school rests on the grounds previously upon which the secondary boarding school had been founded by the Sisters of Charity of St. Paul the Apostle in 1933. Since then the building has been expanded and developed with care particular to maintain its status as a listed historical building while providing the best of spacious and modern classrooms for our students. Although much has changed since the original school opened its doors, the objective remains the same as it did then, namely to care and educate the young people that pass through. As of 2010 Colaiste Ioasef is one of the fastest growing schools in the country and at present plans are underway to facilitate further development of the current campus. There are at present 37 teachers on staff and approximately 420 students.
