Tips on Organising Bag-Packing Events
Arrange the event with your local supermarket well in advance as supermarkets receive many requests and may only accommodate so many a year.
Find out in advance how many check outs there are in the supermarket and arrange a roster of students for the day. Usually students would be rostered for 2-3 hours and would work in pairs.
In preparation
Emphasise to your students the importance of being polite and courteous to the supermarkets customers, packing the bags properly (i.e. the type of goods to pack together), and being able to explain the nature of the fund raising event properly if asked by customers. It is a good idea to have the students either dress in their uniform or in specific coloured t-shirts so that it can be clearly seen by customers that there is a fundraising event happening.
Provide clearly labeled collection buckets/tins which clearly show the name of the school/group, and make sure there is an adult/parent/teacher in attendance throughout the day who is responsible for the students and collecting the money. Make sure that students and parents are clear on drop-off and collection spots and times.

Hi I was wondering if you know if we would need insurance to bag pack and if so where we would get it from?
My daughter is part of a dance school that has a big weekend competition coming up and myself and some of the other parents were thinking of organising bag packing to help with some of the costs..
Thank you

I'm on a parent association and our insurance covers all fundraising events we carry out...ask the dance school re their insurance policy and if covers ye.
A good one I seen last Friday evening was a music group at a busy crossroad junction was adults only shaking buckets, every car/truck gave money.
