Best DIY Halloween Costumes for Teens



If you or your teen are looking to dress-up for a Halloween party but not sure what to wear we’ve done some spooky research to bring you the most popular costumes for teens. While most of our choices can be recreated cheaply and are DIY, some require extras that you’ll need to buy either online or in your local costumes store. Minions

Minion fever has taken over the world and Halloween is no exception with young and old both going for this costume this year. Simple and budget friendly, the yellow minions from the movie Despicable Me, costume can be recreated with denim shorts or dungarees, a canary yellow long sleeve shirt or t shirt, yellow hat, black gloves, braces and goggles or black rimmed glasses. Katniss Everdeen

A super popular costume in recent years is the famous heroine Katniss Everdeen from the movies The Hunger Games. Again, a simple costume but some props may need to be bought for added effect. To get the look, plait your hair, either get a black or brown leather jacket and brown or green cargo pants or skinny jeans. Wear with lace up boots and complete the look with bow and arrow. Those Meddling Kids!

Fred, Daphne and Velma from Scooby Doo is a favourite this year and an easy costume to replicate. For girlie Daphne, wear a purple dress with flats, purple hair band and a lime green scarf for your neck. Either wear a wig (red) or part you hair down the center. For bookish Velma, wear an orange polo neck jumper with red skirt and orange tights.


Complete the look with short bob wig and thick rimmed black glasses. For Fred, wear blue jeans (flared if possible) white v-neck jumper with blue shirt underneath. Woodland Creatures

This year woodland creatures is a huge theme with an easy to achieve look with just the use of makeup and some DIY props. For makeup, either DIY or get a talented makeup friend to transform your face into a deer with shades of orange, white and black. Use small twigs as antlers held together with a head band. You could be a wise owl, a bunny rabbit or a fox or a wonderful woodland fairy too.



Minecraft

Every year there are literally thousands of zombies out on Halloween night so why not do something truly different and dress up as your favourite character from the famous user generated game Minecraft. All you need is an a4 box or cardboard and glue and either paint or print your own Minecraft pixelate face. Print out or paint the game’s pickaxe to add to the look.
