EDUCATION AND OUTREACH

We deliver a wide range of education and outreach options and are part of several school programmes, including SFI Curious Minds and the Explorers Education Programme, funded by the Marine Institute. We have experience in delivering teacher and pre-service teacher workshops, the Junior Cycle curriculum, and the Aistear curriculum with preschool students and early years educators.

Our Educational Packages

Each package can begin with a guided, interactive tour of the aquarium. To this your group can add one or more of our educational and engaging workshop options. Several of these can be used to obtain an SFI Curious Minds class certificate that can be used as part of an SFI Curious Minds Award application by your school.

Online classes can be facilitated via zoom, and can be tailored to your classes' requirements, while if your class has purchased access to the Aquarium Virtual Tour, you can avail of the six episodes, worksheets as Gaeilge and in English, and a 40 min online Q&A with the one of our education team via Zoom.

OUTREACH

WORKING IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHERS, WE DEVELOP AND DELIVER A RANGE OF OUTREACH ACTIVITIES TO EDUCATE, ENGAGE AND INSPIRE A WIDER AUDIENCE TO SHARE OUR PASSION FOR CONSERVATION AND THE NATURAL WORLD.

We deliver the Explorers Education Programme, funded by the Marine Institute, to primary schools (4th-6th class) in Co. Galway and Co. Clare. Contact noirin@nationalaquarium.ie or visit www.explorers.ie for more information on how your school can take part.

We also host beach cleans, seashore/rockpool explorations, family fun days on our local shore Grattan Beach, and can provide corporate team-building days based on caring for the Ocean and Exploring Biodiversity.
