Galway Atlantaquaria
Ireland’s Largest Native Species Aquarium
Welcome to Galway Atlantaquaria, a multi-award-winning attraction situated in the heart of Salthill on the shores of Galway Bay, the blue heart of the Wild Atlantic Way
Discover the Wonders of Ireland's Aquatic Life
Our aquarium is home to over 100 native aquatic species from Ireland’s lakes, rivers, and oceans. Our exhibits reveal the often-invisible world of aquatic life surrounding our shores.
During your visit you can enjoy tours, talks, feeding experiences, and wander through the Aquarium at your own pace.
Key Features of the Aquarium
Native Species: Explore species unique to Ireland’s rivers, lakes and marine habitats.
Image: In 2024 The Aquarium supported the See Water Differently Campaign. This meant that the Aquarium supported a new host of Freshwater Biodiversity and Conservation to inform the public about the value of clean water. View our playlist on Youtube here.
Fishing Culture & Heritage: Discover exhibits that celebrate Ireland’s rich fishing history and cultural connection to the sea.
Image:The Aquarium has a traditional Galway Hooker on the first floor of the Aquarium. This vessel reminds us of our deep-rooted connection to fishing and the ocean.
● Education & Conservation: Engage with exhibits focused on informal ocean literacy and conservation education.
