I think a parent has to contribute a minimum of €250. They also have to sign a particular form which they give to the school along with their PRSI number and then the school can claim back some type of tax relief. We got something about it from our own school a while back. I´ll dig it out and come back to you with more info.

The form the parents need to fill in is a Revenue CHY2form in respect of Tax Rleief for Donations to Eligible Charities and Approved Bodies. The donation must be for a minimum of €250 and the parent must provide their PPS No. on the Form. The parent then submits the form, along with their donation, to the school/board of management who can claim tax relief on the €250 thereby increasing the contribution made by the parent. Hope that makes sense to you.

can anyone tell me how the tax rebate works for parent voluntary contributions to the school. I know there is a mechanism whereby we (the school) can claim a rebate but not sure of the criteria etc.
