Asperger’s and Girls

The ratio of male to females with a diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome is approximately 10:1, however many experts in the field argue that the ratio may actually be 4:1 as many of these girls go undiagnosed due to their different presentation from boys. This can lead to years of confusion and misunderstanding for them. This talk is aimed at parents, carers and teachers of female children and teenagers with Asperger’s syndrome. More mature females with Asperger’s may also benefit from this talk. Issues to be covered will include:
· What does Asperger’s syndrome look like in girls?
· Educating the female student with Asperger’s syndrome
· Preparing for puberty and beyond
