Childminder in my home pay?

Childminder in my home pay?           reply
01/02/2018 10:19 - How Much Should I Charge or Pay (Locality: Cork)
-----------------------------------
Hi I´m hoping to get a childminder into house 3 days per week 8am to 5pm to mind 6 month twins. One women quoted €80 per day. I met her and I was really happy with her, she´s realisable, loves kids etc. Another women quoted €65 per day, I´ve only spoken to her on the phone I haven´t met her yet so I can´t say if I´d be happy with her.

Does €65 -€80 sound about right?

If a childminder is working in your home you are their employer and therefore must register to pay their tax and prsi etc. they must be paid at least minimum wage.

D15 is correct. Google WRC aupair ruling last year. Plus if the nanny is drawing welfare (which would have stopped once the family registered her as an employee) if the family get reported, by others or indeed the nanny herself, the family will not only be fined but must repay her welfare payments. Revenue are very active in this area.
Plus insurance implications, can´t insure a cash nanny in your home.

The norm would be €10 ph in your own home. I’m paying €70 per day for 2 in the childminders home. So €80 is actually reasonable!
