I think it would be first to have a chat with your 3 year old to find out as much detail as possible. Be casual about it so that your child does not ´shut down´ - some facts that you should try to establish are what happened? Was she/he in the room for long? Did he/she call the minder? Was the minder cross at the time? By finding out as much as you can, it will help to paint a clearer picture of what happened.
With regard to approaching the minder, it is difficult to say exactly because you don´t say how long the minder is with you, how well she gets on with your child, how friendly you are with each other and so on. However, you need to clear this up and so the approach and tone that you use will depend on the relationship that you have with her. Whatever the case is, it is important that you clear the air on this. You need to be happy that you can trust the minder and that your child is happy and safe with her/him. Without seeming to accuse the minder, I think you should be honest and say what your child has said. Don´t go in with ´all guns blazing´ - just tell her and see what her reaction is. There may be a simple explaination, there may be a misunderstanding but either way, you have to discuss it with her/him. Please let us know how you get on.

How would you approach a minder if your three year old child tells you she locked her in a room?
