School kids should be given a "full and frank
sex education", it has been suggested.
Jenny North, head of public policy at counselling and
sex therapy organisation Relate, said it should go hand in hand with relationship guidance.
"[Children should be] looking at what's a good relationship, how to manage conflicts, how to manage your own emotions in relationships, how to deal with relationships when they end, how to cope with the effects of other people's relationships on you, your parents relationships with each other or with step parents," she commented.
Ms North added that it is also important that children learn how to relate to other people in a work and social setting.
She noted that school kids should be taught how to communicate properly with employers and colleagues as it is an extremely important part of life.
In related news, it was revealed last month that a new
sex education advice site has been launched for Irish teenagers called B4Udecide.ie.
