In order to fully benefit from the education process a child needs to be able to read. The acquisition of literacy is a focal point of the English curriculum. It is important that reading, comprehension and writing skills are acquired systematically and that children with particular learning needs are identified at an early stage and provided with adequate remedial support. If your child is having difficulty with reading concepts, it is important to make the child's teacher aware of this so that they can provide additional support where possible.
