Find some great Family Friendly Events over the Bank Holiday Weekend


The August Bank Holiday in 2017 will be on the 7tht of August this year and it’s the perfect time to get out and about with the kids and check out what’s happening around the country. We’ve combed the web for the best family events around Ireland that are suitable for all ages, enjoy!


Spraoi International Festival of Street Art
4th, 5th & 6th August ¦ Waterford ¦ Free for Kids


Make your way to Waterford this weekend with the family to watch world class musicians, performers and street artists as they offer up some amazing spectacles and delights.

There is also mini festival specially designed for families and kids call SprÓg Childrens Festival. Find out more about the the SprÓg and Spraoi International Festivals here.



National Steam Rally
6th & 7th August ¦ Laois ¦ Free for Kids


If you have any little steam engine enthusiasts in your family then this event is a must. The National Steam Rally will be jam packed with vintage exhibits, over 30 steam engine demos, sheepdog demonstrations, live music and much more.

The kids will get a kick out of taking rides on the steam trains and will have endless amounts of fun at the carnival. There will also be the crowning of the Steam Queen to look forward to! Find out more about the National Steam Rally here.



Indiependence Music and Arts Festival
4th, 5th & 6th August ¦ Cork ¦ Free for Kids


For music loving families, Indiependence really is the all-rounder festival. With headline acts such as Hermitage Green, The Riptide Movement, All Tvvins and Sigma, the experience is unmissable. Although their weekend tickets are sold out, day tickets are still available here.

The appeal of this festival, especially for families, is that they allow children under 12 to attend, with their parents, free of charge. They even go so far as to provide entertainment for the little ones with activities including Spray Art, Board Games, Jewellery making and much more.



All-Ireland Dog Show
7st August ¦ Connemara


Who doesn’t love a good dog show? The All-Ireland Dog Show will be a great day out for all the family (including the pet dog!) this Bank Holiday Monday. With Sean-nós dancing, music, miniature ponies and, of course, lots of dogs, there will be plenty to keep the kids busy.

There is even a prize for the Best Dressed so get the family spruced up and don’t forget to stick a dickie bow on the dog. Visit their Facebook page for more information.



The Beatyard
5th & 6th August ¦ Dún Laoghaire ¦ €5


The Beatyard have a dedicated Kidsyard with supervised fun, frolicks and festivities for kids aged 2 - 12 years of age for just €5! Sunday is all sold but there's still availability for Saturday!

There will be plenty of fun workshops and entertainment on offer for kids and families provided by Imaginosity, Don Conroy and many other fun activities including Inflatable and giant games, face painting and plenty of food and drink! Find out more here.
