Gardening with children can be so much fun, you might think it is a summer activity but now you can start earlier.

Growbox is perfect for starting seeds off indoors in the warmth away from the cold. You can then transfer them outside after the last of the frosty days and reuse the box again. Or you can keep them in the Growbox and just move it outside it’s entirely up to you.

Let children have their own Growbox and giving them serious tools so they can feel fully involved in their project. Set them up in the utility room or a back room with light so they can make a bit of a mess.

Start from seeds so they can experience the entire process. Once the seeds sprout they can be moved outside. Or you can plant items that will grow quite well inside such as tomatoes or peppers, as long as they kept in a warm sunny location.

Tip: If you are going to move your Growbox outside wait until the water in the Growbox is low as it is much lighter to move.

If you grow items that can be eaten this will make the experience really enjoyable and moves the fun from the garden into the kitchen. This also adds an extra educational twist on how food gets to the family table and what is involved in the process. It also means you can enjoy their hard work.

Tip: Select crops that will cover a few seasons that way it will keep their interest as to what is coming next and what they may be able to enjoy in the next season.

Explain to your little growers the science behind the process. How a seed is woken by water been absorbed and how the protective coat expands then splits allowing oxygen inside.

Then the seed will begin to grow roots which are very important allowing the plant to absorb nutrients and water.

You can then explain the process of photosynthesis and how plants can create their own energy through their leaves.

With Growbox, it is easy to grow seedlings inside and bring the gardening indoors all year round.
