Gaeilge na hArdteiste

Gaeilge na hArdteiste is a new series to be presented by Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta from 1st – 6th March, to help students to prepare for their Leaving Cert Irish exam, covering all aspects of the exam including the oral, as well as aural and written.

Since 2012, the percentage of marks for the oral Irish exam has increased from 25% to 40%. The series will provide practical help to students, covering all aspects of the oral exam. 


The series will include sample oral exam scenarios, followed by advice from qualified Irish-language teachers indicating where students in the sample interviews could have improved their answers, what mistakes they made, and pitfalls to be avoided. It will also cover the picture series, and will help students build on their vocabulary. 

As well as covering the oral exam, the series will help students with the literature element, with advice, explanations and analysis of the prose and poetry, and tips for essay writing.
 
Exam time can be very stressful for students, and Gaeilge na hArdteiste will include a section each week with advice on how to maintain physical and mental health during that time.
