Atlantic AirVenture Aviation Museum and Centre

Atlantic AirVenture is an exciting and interactive Aviation Museum, Aviation Education Centre and Flight Simulation Centre located in Shannon, Co. Clare in the West of Ireland.

More than just a fun attraction, Atlantic AirVenture is a living and breathing learning hub. We provide educational and fun activities, based on real-world lessons, for both adults and children.

Primary School Tours at the Aerospace Discovery Centre - a great idea for your school day out.

Aviation is a fascinating subject and children are especially curious about the wonders of flight. Our primary school tours are designed to introduce school students to the basic theory of flight and aerodynamics in a fun ‘hands on, minds on’ format. Student’s will learn about the four forces acting on an airplane in flight and how airplanes are flown and controlled.

Now it’s time to test those theories during a simulated flight lesson with a real world Pilot. Teams of two students work together to navigate a course around New York, with a few loop-the-loops and rolls along the way. This is a really big hit with both boys and girls and keeps them talking for a while afterwards!

Then, take a guided interactive tour of our Aviation Visitor Centre to see a cool collection of exhibits including an Aircraft Carrier Jet, a Spitfire Cockpit, Landing Gear, Jet Engines Models, Memorabilia and lots more.

Birthday Parties.

Our AvKids Aviation Birthday Parties are a great opportunity to help nurture and develop that passion for flight or expose curious minds to new concepts and ideas in a fun-filled way.

What’s involved:

  • A 15 minute pre-flight lesson on the basic theory of flight, the parts of the aircraft, control surfaces and flight Instruments.
  • Each team of two fly as pilot and co pilot to perform a take-off and landing at Shannon Airport.
  • Then its off to New York’s JFK airport, their challenge is a race in the Red Bull Extra 300 high performance aircraft! The mission is to find the Statue of Liberty and then to fly under the Brooklyn Bridge, and then back to JFK for their best landing!
  • After all that, take part in an exciting guided tour of the Aviation Museum. Sit in a real airplane, and see a life vest safety demonstration. (The birthday boy or girl gets to take the life vest home!)
